Editing, editing, editing, editing, editing, and some more editing. I spent my first week and will spend half of my second week editing video and designing artwork for the Breitbach/Whitt Wedding. My goal is to make Sara Whitt shed tears of great joy when she sees the video. And my editing isn’t the only factor, the amazing shots by our camera crew brought out a beautiful event in lovely Iowa City. Next week, more editing, editing, editing, editing, and probably after lunch breaks, more editing. Great staff to work with here at Nepo by the way.      Steve-Edit Boy….OUT!!!!

We at Nepo Productions would like to welcome Steve Oliver to our staff as a new editor. We met Steve a few months ago at a wedding that Nepo was shooting. Steve was singing and playing guitar for the ceremony. After the ceremony, we talked for a bit and hit it off. I gave him a card and the next thing you know he was in the office for an interview.

When I say interview, I mean it seemed like he was interviewing me! I felt all nervous after the interview, wondering if I’d get the job! Well luckily enough, I realized that it was up to me to hire Steve. I went ahead and offered the position and a few weeks later he’s here editing away!

We have some big plans for Steve, some things he doesn’t even know yet! (please don’t tell him) Besides editing, Steve is going to be helping with sales and even a little bit of location work. I can’t leave him locked in his editing suite all the time.

Nepo Productions recently finished a promotion video for Horizons, a local non-profit organization, with the assistance of “Pee-Wee Productions”.

Horizons was looking to update their older promotional video and wanted something fun and fresh. The video was going to get it’s premier at Horizons’ night at Cedar Rapids Kernels stadium. We bounced many ideas back and forth and came up with an idea of a kid-run production company producing the video.

Nepo Productions had already acquired the interview footage, so we just needed to capture the footage of the kids working the equipment. With 10 kids running around the office, we were actually able to get the footage we needed within half a day! They were great to work with! We also had one of the kids to the voice-over for the video. It took a few hours of repeating some pretty big words to get what we needed, but we got it and went to work putting it all together in time for the game.

Iowa City artist Jeff McNutt, who we worked with recently, was commissioned to paint a Nepo piece for our office.  (Jeff’s website goes live August 1st– be sure to check it out if you’re a fan of the Hawkeyes!) Jeff finished his painting last week and brought it to the office to hang it.
